IN MEMORY OF THE ARTIST GUNILLA PALMSTIERNA-WEISS

FACILITATOR has supported Nadja Weiss with grant applications and to create the non-profit association that is now supported by the Torsten Söderberg Foundation to arrange and organize Gunilla Palmstierna-Weiss' extensive archive consisting of letters, sketches and texts as well as sculptures and ceramics.

Gunilla Palmstierna-Weiss (1928-2022) is one of the most established and acknowledged set and costume designers of our time who received great recognition both nationally and internationally during her professional life.

ÖSTANGÅRD

FACILITATOR supports the development of Östangård, an international venue for music, art and performing arts in southern Sweden. Together with FACILITATOR, owners Nadja Weiss and Philippe Boix-Vives are now exploring how the place can develop in the coming years to become an important place for innovative art and culture.

The new Östangård Performing Arts & Residence will offer rooms for rental, concerts and performances, and future also artist residencies for national and international artists.

RESIDENCE SIGRID

FACILITATOR supports MISSCHIEFS founder Paola Bjäringer to develop an artist residency in the village of Collioure in southern France, a unique place that inspired many artists in the early 20th century, among others Henri Matisse and Sigrid Hjertén. The new residence will be independent but developed in the spirit of MISSCHIEFS.

MISSCHIEFS is a method to push for more visibility of womxn artists. By taking over empty spaces in key urban locations, MISSCHIEFS curates multidisciplinary exhibitions and public experiences as well as offering rent-free art studios to selected womxn artists.

ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE

Artistic residencies can provide access to focused work environments and stimulating cultural contexts, fostering unique opportunities for creative development and artistic exploration.

FACILITATOR launched its first Start Up Residence in August 2025, as part of a cultural exchange between Sweden and the USA. The program included a working stay on Gotland for performance artists from New York City, complemented by curated dinners, studio visits, and a think tank with Swedish art professionals.

The Start Up Residence served as the launch pad for UNGOVERNABLE, a research/performance project that emerges from an intergenerational collaboration between two women—an American artist and a former Swedish diplomat—motivated by the intertwined challenges facing democracy and the environment on both sides of the Atlantic. Together, they delve into archives to illuminate feminist troublemakers and political ancestors whose legacies resonate with today’s struggles, including Elin Wägner, Rachel Carson, and Audre Lorde. This investigation will culminate in a new play that interweaves archival and autobiographical material with strategies for collective action. UNGOVERNABLE is supported by Linnaeus Residency Program, Linnaeus University.

TIMES OF TRANSITION

The project Brytningstider is a work in progress. It will become an exhibition that explores how art can highlight major social changes in a contemporary and historical perspective. Through documentary photography, three periods of transition are depicted: the United States during the depression of the 1930s and 1940s, Sweden during the emerging welfare state of the 1960s, and the contemporary effects of climate change and technological development in Sweden today. The exhibition is planned to be shown in three locations in Sweden during 2026-2027.
